Alicante is one of the most beautiful cities in Spain. Situated on the Costa Blanca, Alicante is a favorite with the tourists as well as locals. The city is a wonderful blend of the traditional and modern and you can savor the regions rich past here and enjoy shopping in some of the trendiest malls at the same time. The lovely sunny weather year round and mild winters has made it a favorite among tourists from northern Europe. Its miles long golden coastline features lovely beaches are superb, with fine, white sand and all the modern facilities and There is everything to please the modern tourist in Alicante- superb golf courses, lively nightlife, a picturesque harbor, and the ancient Castle of Santa Barbara towering above the city skyline. There is no dearth of picturesque sites in Alicante whether in the charming city centre, the beaches or the surrounding mountains and countryside.

The quintessential historic quarter is at the foot of this fortress, and within this old district is a plethora of religious and civil architectural legacy. The latest addition to the legacy of Alicante is the magnificent Explanada de Espana- the beautiful seaside promenade that is a recreational centre for both locals and tourists. Alicante is also a land of deeply rooted traditions, such as the Moors and Christians festivities and the Night of San Juan. When it comes to Alicante delicious cuisine, rice takes the central stage, cooked in a million different ways.

Alicante is a modern working town, and has always been a prosperous town, both for the rich fishing and the market gardens of the fertile plain inland of it.There are quite a few interesting museums worth a visit in Alicante. The provincial archaeological museum, the MARQ, is a museum with a varied collection to interest visitors. There are three rooms dedicated to the art of excavation, including underwater archaeology. The most important exhibits are in the Iberian (pre-Roman) room.

The CAPA collection of Spanish contemporary sculpture museum is inside the castle of Santa Barbara with works dating from the 19th and 20th century.

Apart from these, there is the Garvin Fine Arts Museum, and the University Museum.Apart from these the various fiestas in Alicante fill the city with celebrations, music, and color. Sa Juan is the most important festival here, and every year from the 20th to 29th June, the city sees nights of bonfires and fireworks- especially on the Playa de San Juan.The nightlife scene in Alicante leaves nothing to be desired. There are innumerable ways and locations in Alicante where you can party late into the night. The Barrio Santa Cruz is a centre for young people and full of pubs, late-night bars with music, C/ San Fernando is the place to go for discotheques. The Explanada de Espana is lively, and the marina has a large number of different kinds of bars and pubs.

In the summer, the nightlife centre of gravity shifts to the Playa San Juan Car hire in Alicante is the easiest way to move around its many beautiful and worth visiting locations.
